SHANE'S TRAINING – Week of August 12, 2024

Continuing the plan laid out last week. You will see that the reps for the strength lifts have dropped to 5 and the volume to 12. 

Classic lifts keep the same kind of setup, albeit a lower volume week, accounting for 22% of the monthly volume, so getting a little bit of higher intensity lifts (85%+) in to make up for the lower volume. The average intensity doesn’t move that much, however. Next week will be the highest volume week on these lifts, so the intensity will generally be lower to deal with the greater overall workload. As this is a preparation phase, I don’t want to spend too much time greater than 85%, but I also don’t want to lose the specific adaptations that 85%+ weights impart. 

It’s only week 2, but I am feeling good. It feels like I have a very solid layout that I can run for 6+ months and get some really solid gains on my lifts while just gradually nudging the weights up. I think that is the best way forward, not only to regain some of the strength/muscle that I have lost, but to make new gains.

If I don’t mess it up and change things too much.
