INSIDE THE VERSE TEAM: THE PEOPLE POWERING VERSE FITNESS

Innovation Starts with People

At Verse Fitness, every product starts with a problem—and is solved by a team. Founder and president Michael Tseng has always believed that true innovation comes from collaboration. During the height of the COVID pandemic, he partnered with longtime friend and strength coach Shane Robert, and together, they began reimagining what strength training could look like at home.

Watch Michael's interview here.

The challenge was clear: create a portable, foldable squat rack that didn’t compromise on performance. The solution? The Verse Agile Rack—a heavy-duty, transportable rack that could move from the garage to the driveway or even the beach. But what brought this vision to life wasn’t just an idea. It was the team behind it.

A Vision Fueled by Versatility and Strength

The name "Verse" was born from the team’s commitment to versatility, strength, and resistance—not just in fitness, but in mindset. These values guided every decision throughout the product’s development. From design and testing to branding and community-building, every member of the team brought their expertise and passion to the table.

Michael and the team weren’t just designing for function—they were creating a product that would empower people to train freely, wherever they want.

Built Remotely, Connected Deeply

Because Verse Fitness was born during the pandemic, the Agile Rack was almost entirely developed through remote collaboration. The team worked across time zones and screens, communicating through Zoom calls, Slack messages, and endless shared documents. Though physically apart, they operated with one unified goal: build something that could change the way people train.

Every prototype, test, and adjustment was the result of tireless teamwork. Engineers, designers, testers, and brand experts all played a role in turning an idea into a rugged, refined, and reliable training tool.

Tested by Lifters, Built for Lifters

Michael and Shane, both experienced strength trainers, knew the Agile Rack had to deliver on performance. Together with their extended team, they went through round after round of testing to ensure the product was safe, stable, and strong enough for serious lifting.

The final rack, made from heavy-duty materials, passed a critical load test—confirming it could hold up to 700 pounds. That kind of capability didn’t happen by accident—it happened because the team stay committed to their goals.

A Small Team with a Big Mission

Today, Verse Fitness is five years old and powered by a tight-knit, passionate team dedicated to making high-quality fitness equipment accessible to everyone. From product developers to content creators, every team member contributes to building more than just gear—they’re building a brand rooted in inclusivity, expertise, and trust.

Even now, the team continues to work remotely, balancing creativity and execution while staying connected by shared values and mutual respect. At Verse, remote doesn’t mean disconnected—it means adaptable, just like the equipment they create.

More Than a Product—A Community

The Verse team isn’t only focused on equipment—they’re also building a fitness community. That’s why they started Strong Saturday, a growing series of live events designed to bring people together through strength and support.

And through the Verse blog, Shane shares over 20 years of training wisdom to guide everyone—from first-timers to seasoned lifters—with plans, motivation, and foundational knowledge.

Behind the scenes, every piece of content, every social post, and every product improvement is the work of a team that truly cares.

Gratitude for the Verse Family

At the heart of Verse Fitness is what the team lovingly calls the Verse Family—the people who make everything possible. Their dedication, creativity, and passion fuel the mission every day—from the first sketch to the final product, to community events like Strong Saturday.
