SHANE'S TRAINING – Week of July 15, 2024

My trip to Mexico is over. I managed to squeeze training twice while away. Once at the hotel gym and once doing bodyweight stuff. In addition to a couple of days of tons of dancing, climbing to the top of the pyramid in Cholula, and, of course, lots of walking. The altitude definitely made it feel harder than it would have at home.

Despite not controlling what I ate, I lost about 3 pounds. In total, I’ve lost around 10 pounds over the last month. One of the problems for me not eating as frequently is that it becomes hard to keep my calories up. I can only eat so much in one sitting before feeling full, and I don't want to mess up the flow of the day by having to stop for a big meal every 3 hours when no one else is hungry. I did go to a grocery store and managed to get snacks/protein sources, but, even with keeping my protein high, my calories were probably less than 2200 per day, which is nearly a 60% calorie deficit.

I am taking this week as a reload week. I need to get my eating and weight back on track while getting used to harder lifting again. With the combination of weight loss, time off, and the past few weeks of being sick, I feel slow and weak. Taking a week to ease back into training before starting a new cycle next week is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
