Why We Built the NEO Rack

Why We Built the NEO Rack

July 23, 2026

When we launched the Verse® Agile Rack, we wanted to challenge an assumption.

For decades, if you wanted to train seriously with a barbell, you needed a large, permanent squat rack. Portable equipment almost always meant compromise—less stable, less capable, or not built for real strength training.

The Agile Rack proved otherwise.

It showed that a full-strength, freestanding squat rack could fold down small enough to fit in a closet, set up in minutes without tools, and still handle heavy training. It opened the door for athletes who wanted the freedom to lift wherever life took them.

But as we watched more people use the Agile Rack, another opportunity became clear.

Not every athlete has the same priorities.

Many athletes simply wanted the easiest possible way to train with a barbell. They wanted something they could carry effortlessly, store almost anywhere, and set up without thinking twice. They weren't looking for less quality—they were looking for less friction. This brought us back to the very premise of Verse’s vision: to make strength and fitness accessible to all by removing barriers.

That became the starting point for the Verse Agile Rack NEO.

The Challenge

Designing a lighter rack isn't as simple as using less steel.

Every pound you remove changes the way a product feels. It affects stability, durability, and confidence under load. The challenge wasn't simply making the rack lighter—it was making it lighter without compromising the quality of the workout experience.

The NEO Rack carries the same philosophy as the Agile Rack: It's tool-free, freestanding, and folds down into an incredibly compact footprint. It's built for real barbell training—not just improvised workouts.

Where it differs is in its purpose.

At under 47 pounds, the NEO Rack is 20 pounds lighter than the Agile Rack, making it our lightest and most portable rack yet.

That difference matters every time you pick it up.

Whether you're carrying it into the backyard, loading it into your car, bringing it to a park, or storing it in an apartment closet, the NEO is designed to make strength training feel effortless before you ever touch the bar.

It's not about lifting less. It's about making it easier to lift more often.

Which Rack Is Right for You?

The Agile Rack and the NEO Rack share the same DNA, but they're built for different priorities.

Choose the Agile Rack if your focus is maximum strength in a portable full-strength rack. With a 700-pound capacity, it's built for lifters who want the confidence to push heavy loads while still enjoying the freedom of a foldable, portable setup.

Choose the NEO Rack if portability comes first. With a 500-pound capacity, an ultra-lightweight frame, and the same compact, tool-free design, it's built for athletes who value convenience and capability.

Neither rack is better than the other. They're just built for different priorities.

More Choice. Same Mission.

Every product we build starts with the same goal: remove another barrier to strength training.

Sometimes that means building the strongest portable rack possible.

Sometimes it means making a rack lighter.

Sometimes it means making it more affordable.

At $100 less than the Agile Rack, the NEO Rack opens the door for even more athletes to experience serious barbell training without dedicating an entire room—or an oversized budget—to their equipment. (Bonus: it comes with Mini Spotter Arms 🤩)

Because the best gym isn't always the biggest one, sometimes it's simply the one that's ready whenever you are.
