Behind the Brand: High Stakes & High Fashion at the Verse Fitness Launch

The event director’s voice cut through the commotion, setting the tone for what was about to ignite. There’s a specific kind of electricity that shows up when athletes, creators, and innovators share a room. At the debut photoshoot for Verse Apparel, that energy didn’t just flicker—it surged.
The Verse team joined several other brands to take over an energetic Los Angeles venue. The purpose: to capture the soul of our newly launched apparel line. The result was nothing short of historic. Fashion Designer and Creative Director Lola Wusu took the helm of the Verse team, buzzing between conversations, interviews with collaborators, and orchestrating the many hands on deck.

From the Court to the Camera
The face of the brand for this shoot was pro tennis player-turned-model, Kai. His transition from the baseline to the front of the lens anchored the day in athletic authenticity. Dressed head-to-toe in Verse, Kai posed alongside the Verse Agile Rack, the Verse Folding Bench, and enough weight to complement his chiseled stature. When asked about his training, he shared that he splits his time about 50–50 between the gym and the court.
More Than Just Gym Gear
Between the steady hum of photographers and Matt (our perfectionist “steamer”) making sure every hem was crisp, a conversation emerged around the intersection of performance and style.
“You have to wear clothes in order to work out,” Lola joked.
But it’s more than just wearing clothes. As Lola explains, “The thought is really that everyone has a uniform to work out in, and we wanted to help create everyone’s uniform.” It’s about the Verse Uniform—a seamless blend of function and form.
The star of the show? Our signature sweatset. The verdict was immediate and unanimous: “Feels good, color’s nice, super comfy.”
