A Fun and Engaging Couples Workout:
The Partnered Banded Workout

Today, Tyrell and his wife Ceci demonstrate a fun, engaging workout for couples, using resistance bands and the Verse Agile Rack. Whether adding variety to your routine or enjoying healthy time together, this adaptable workout suits any equipment you have at home, with the Verse Agile Rack making it even easier and more enjoyable. Watch the video here!

Bulgarian Split Squat

Using a band to support your back leg makes this move significantly harder! The band is not as firm as a barbell or similar piece of equipment, which means you can’t push off with the back leg, making the front leg do all of the work (which is the goal!). The wobbliness and unstable nature of the band also means that your front leg has to work even harder than usual to stabilize, making the movement more productive.

Ax Chop

The Ax Chop is a killer core move that hits three functions of the abdominals - rotation, stabilization, and antirotation. By pressing the weight away from you at the top, you are increasing the demand on the abdominals, a marked improvement over simple rotational exercises.

Squats and RDL Combo

For someone who needs a little reminder about thoracic extension (aka chest up) while squatting, this little combo is a great way to do it. While one person is squatting, the other gets to groove their hip hinge and get a little extra hamstring work. The RDL is a lower intensity movement and can act as active rest for the person not squatting.

Elevated Push-ups

Raising your feet in a push-up means that you are lifting more of your weight as part of the movement. This makes it harder and, for those who can do it, a more effective strength and muscle-building stimulus. As with the split squats, the wobbly, unstable nature of the band places greater stress on your core to stay rigid throughout the movement, a bonus core workout!

Koala Bear Assisted Pull-ups

This is mostly a fun exercise, but one that does have merit! For some people, pull-ups are easy. For others, they are hard. Put those people together and the stronger person gets the benefit of lifting more load while the other lifter gets assistance from their partner. The bands are added to adjust the resistance for both people as needed.

Why Work Out as a Couple?

Working out as a couple has numerous benefits. It can:

  • Strengthen your relationship by spending quality time together.
  • Keep you motivated, as you're accountable to each other.
  • Make workouts more fun and enjoyable.
  • Help you achieve your fitness goals with the support and encouragement from your partner.

The Power of Teamwork: The Journey of Tyrell & Ceci

For Tyrell and Ceci Bell, finding balance isn't just a goal; it's a way of life. As a dynamic couple, they epitomize the synergy between personal ambition and teamwork. Tyrell holds a 9-to-5 job, which can often be demanding. Recognizing this, Ceci steps in to lend support where needed. It's the small acts of recognizing and assisting each other that lay the foundation for a robust partnership. As Tyrell emphasizes, the secret to their effective family functioning, particularly with their son, is teamwork—whether coordinating family activities or supporting each other during personal workouts.

As a dedicated wellness bodybuilder, Ceci focuses on physique and muscle appearance for competitions. On the other hand, Tyrell, a functional strength coach, prioritizes performance through functional training. While their approaches might differ, Tyrell & Ceci’s couple workouts can act as a way to support each other’s fitness goals or simply as a way to find joy in shared activities.

How the Verse Agile Rack Supports their Fitness Lifestyle

Ceci was excited to use the Agile Rack for the first time and appreciates its lightweight design and substantial weight-holding capacity. This enables her to carry her fitness routines wherever she goes, reaffirming her commitment to staying fit without constraints.

Tyrell appreciates the practical aspects of the Agile Rack, particularly its mobility, simplicity, and short setup and breakdown times. For someone who trains clients in diverse locations like parks and gyms, this equipment is a game-changer. It offers the flexibility to cater to various training environments without compromising the quality of the workout.
